Now the practical work of creating a common Nordic end-user market for electricity commences. Yesterday the Nordic energy regulators together with the TSOs and the branch organizations formed task forces that will, among other things, propose the new framework for the future Nordic market.
In May 2009 the Nordic energy regulators organization NordREG proposed to create a common Nordic end-user market for electricity by the year 2015. Since, the Nordic ministers for energy have given their support for the proposition. NordREG has also been given the task to present which regulatory, technical and economical changes that have to be made in order to achieve the goal of a common end-user market
Yesterday NordREG met with the Nordic TSOs and the branch organizations in Helsinki. The meeting resulted in the creation of several task forces. They will propose Nordic solutions to balance settlement, data exchange, market model and customer interface and also prepare guidelines for market integration.
By March 15 2010 the status of the work and what future actions are needed will be presented in a report.
– The support to create a common market by 2015 expressed by the Nordic ministers for energy was very important for the continued process, says Antti Paananen, chair of NordREG Retail and Distribution Working Group. Now it is up to us and the market actors to deliver concrete suggestions.
The presentations from the meeting on 9th of December and other material concerning NordREGs work on creating a common Nordic end-user market will be published at the NordREG website http://www.nordicenergyregulators.org/
